ENCOURAGE MORE LNG INVESTMENTS TO MEET SURGING POWER DEMAND
BANTAY KONSYUMER, KALSADA, KUYENTE (BK3) supports the government’s efforts to develop the country’s natural gas sector, which is essentially geared to lower electricity prices and boost available supply in the country.
The active participation of private sector players is necessary in achieving the government’s thrust, which will benefit not only large-scale power users but also regular households and consumers who are of prime importance to BK3.
By pouring in the necessary investments, private sector players are doing their part in advancing the interest of consumers and contributing to economic development.
As such, the announced partnership among Aboitiz Power Corp., San Miguel Corp. and Meralco PowerGen Corp reflects a unified response from the private sector to work with government, and invest their expertise and resources to help address the increasing power demand of the country.
We hope that this will become a new model of cooperation that will inspire more investors to participate in developing an environment of healthy competition that will create a thriving natural gas industry that will offer the most competitive rates to consumers.
This much is clear. We need new projects to come in because the only way to lower rates is to put into operations additional capacities. This would not be possible if all efforts towards development are met with unproven statements and accusations meant to create controversy and hinder progress.
We are urging more energy players to answer the call of government to further develop the natural gas industry, help the country transition faster towards renewable energy, and let consumers realize the benefits of having an energy-secure future.
